Luminate is proud to announce that Annalise Miller, Manager at Luminate, will present at the ACP Peak Performance, Modeling Assessment Conference, taking place October 29 – 30 in Austin, TX. Annalise will share her research in a poster session titled “Analyzing Low-Light Performance in PAN Files” on Wednesday, October 29, from 5:00-6:00 PM (CT).

Her presentation explores module performance measurements at low-irradiance conditions are often highly uncertain. Even with quality measured data, it can be difficult to distill noisy testing results into clean PAN file model parameters. Small sample sizes and divergent algorithms for determining the five parameters of the one diode model further compound this problem. Through this research we used third-party module testing results to quantify the accuracy of third-party PAN files (as well as default PVsyst PAN file settings) in estimating low-light performance of modules. We also conducted sensitivities on how sample sizes and module variation impact low-light modeling, as well as the potential impact of these sensitivities on real project generation forecasts. This research investigated whether module performance efficiencies are largely being modeling incorrectly for light conditions other than 1000W/m2.
