Luminate is honored to serve as the Independent Engineer for the U.S. Department of Energy’s StarPlus Energy project, which includes the development of two manufacturing facilities for electric vehicle (EV) battery cells and modules. The DOE’s Loan Programs Office (LPO) recently closed a $7.54 billion loan to StarPlus Energy LLC to support the construction of these lithium-ion battery cell and module manufacturing plants in Kokomo, Indiana.
A joint venture between Stellantis N.V. and Samsung SDI, the project is expected to produce approximately 67 GWh of batteries annually, supplying enough power for around 670,000 EVs each year.
Luminate is proud to contribute our expertise to this transformative project, supporting its successful execution and long-term impact on the industry.
