Luminate is proud to have served as the Independent Engineer for Copia Power’s Maricopa Energy Center, a transformative solar and storage project that recently secured a $1.71 billion construction loan from a consortium of lenders led by CIBC. Located in Maricopa County, Arizona, the Maricopa Energy Center will include 550-MW of solar capacity with a 550‑MWAC/2,200-MWh AC-coupled battery energy storage system. The project is being developed in two phases, both of which have secured Power Purchase Agreements with Arizona Public Service and are expected to reach commercial operation between 2026 and 2027. Once completed, it will be the largest renewable-plus-storage project in Arizona.
